40 Years of T-REEF Surfboard

This year marks four decades since T-REEF Surfboard was born
but the story begins much earlier.

From a life-changing encounter with Dick Brewer in Hawaii
to years spent reading reef breaks in New Caledonia,
Tadao Tominaga shaped more than surfboards.
He shaped a philosophy.

Listen to the waves.
Shape with purpose.
Let surfer, shaper, and nature become one.

For years, my father kept the shaping room open,
quietly welcoming anyone curious enough to step inside.
But as he neared seventy,
he knew it was time to give back what the ocean,
and his teachers, had given him.

And so the T-REEF Workshop was born:
a place where surfers can shape their own boards,
touch the foam, hear the planer,
and feel the ocean in a new way.

This workshop isn’t just a space.
It is the continuation of a legacy
passed from Dick Brewer to Tadao,
and now from Tadao to the next generation.
